About me

Barry Walker is an artist with over 40 years experience as an exhibiting artist and educator.  Working across a variety of media, his artwork is collected at both a corporate and personal level. As co-owner/director of  The Southern School of Art in Adelaide, South Australia, he ran classes for both adults and children across a range of genres. His passion for art education has seen him work extensively with gifted students of all ages, and he recently began working with individuals suffering from  Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

Barry is best known for his unique, haunting, monochromatic and subtle watercolour portraits. But with skills across a wide range of genres and techniques he delights in incorporating a mixed media approach to many of his works. His belief that art is a 'vehicle for him to relay a message, to be the storyteller',  is fundamental to his philosophy as an artist.

Regularly engaged to create bespoke works for commission clients, his artwork is recognisable and unique.
